Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Nicholas Campbell Malcolm (ABN 70 610 323 411), trading as KIDS ("KIDS", "we", "us") collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information in connection with the KIDS app and website. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). In short: we collect very little, we don’t show ads, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
1. What we collect
Account information, if you sign in with Apple: a unique identifier provided by Apple and the email address Apple shares with us. If you choose "Hide My Email", this is a private relay address. We do not request or store your name.
Activity: the claims you vote on, how you voted, problems you report (including the reason you select), and the times of these actions.
Purchase status: whether you have bought the one-time unlock, recorded by our purchase provider against an anonymous app user ID. Apple processes payments; we never receive your card or bank details.
Device storage: before you sign in, your guesses, and your acceptance of these terms, are stored only on your device. The age groups you choose (for example "Toddler") and your daily reminder settings are also stored only on your device; when you open the feed, the app sends the chosen age groups with the request so it can show relevant claims first, but we do not store them or link them to you. Reminders are scheduled by your phone, not sent by us. We also store a session token on your device so you stay signed in.
Technical information: our hosting and database providers automatically record limited technical data such as IP address, device and app version, and request logs, used for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse.
We do not intentionally collect health information about you or your child, information about your location, contacts, photos, or your child’s name, age or identity. Please do not include personal or health details about anyone in reports.
2. How we use it
We use personal information to: provide and secure your account; record one vote per claim; show you which claims you have answered; display combined, non-identifying vote totals; review reports and improve fact-checks; unlock and restore purchases; prevent fraud, abuse and vote manipulation; respond to your enquiries; and comply with the law.
We do not use your information for advertising, do not build advertising profiles, and do not sell, rent or trade it. We do not use your personal information to train AI models.
3. Who we share it with
Service providers who help us run KIDS, under contracts or terms that restrict how they use your information: Supabase (database, accounts and server functions; KIDS data is hosted in Sydney, Australia); Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store and payments); RevenueCat (records your purchase status against an anonymous ID); and Vercel (hosting for the website).
Our fact-checking system sends public content (news headlines, search trends, public posts and research papers) to Anthropic’s AI models for analysis. None of your personal information is sent to Anthropic.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of users or others, or to a successor if the Service is sold or transferred (subject to this policy).
4. Overseas disclosure
Your account data is stored in Australia. Some service providers (including Apple, RevenueCat and Vercel) are based in, or may process information in, the United States and other countries. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, database access rules that allow you to see only your own votes and reports, and restricted administrative access. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorisation. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.
6. Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account information, votes and reports while you have an account. You can delete your account in the app at any time; this permanently deletes your account, votes and reports, and vote totals are updated. Limited technical logs and backups may persist for a short period before being overwritten in the ordinary course.
Information on your device is removed when you delete the app.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing nick@0xlaunch.me. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days, and may need to verify your identity. You can also delete your account directly in the app.
You may interact with KIDS without signing in, in which case we do not hold account information about you.
8. Children
KIDS is for parents and carers aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us at nick@0xlaunch.me. We will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
10. Changes
We may update this policy, for example if we add features or service providers such as analytics. We will post the updated policy in the Service and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
